Silverberry

I am wondering if anyone has experience growing Silverberry(Elaeagnus commutata) in zone 5 or 6. From what I have read it seems that the plant itself will be plenty hardy enough, but I am unsure if the fruit will ripen. It flowers in the fall, and the fruit forms the following spring...kinda strange flowering/fruiting habit. Anyways, I just planted a lovely variegated cultivar purchased from One Green World. It has to be the most beautiful Elaeagnus...I would grow it even if it didn't fruit just because it's so pretty! Should be a good nitrogen fixer none the less.
