edible specialist nectary
We grow the "Ravenswing" variety which has beautiful dark purple foliage. It is easy to spot and harvest the leaves. They are not fantastic, but edible enough when browsing or making salads, their color being a nice addition.
Has naturalized in some areas including Vermont.
Has a nice long flowering time, so a good insect nectary for us. Also quite lovely with white flowers against purple-black foliage.
